I realize that raising a baby and running a dish shop probably don’t go well hand in hand. I’m sure it could happen but I’m not one who likes to waste time worrying about stuff. I want to enjoy things while I’m keeping busy learning about this little guy. At least at home, I’ll be able to store things away from those tiny hands of his and customers can enjoy shopping without the noise of a crying baby.

Considering all this, I now have a better understanding of why my mother always stored her lovely mug collection on the second shelf (out of reach for me at the time) and I always had to drink out of the crappy plastic cups. As a kid, I spent years waiting to get my hands on her collection. Something about them made me feel so grown up – even though I was only drinking water out of them. I used to make my mother cringe every time I would empty the dishwasher and take as many mugs as I could at once (one hanging from each finger), which is a skill I still carry with me today. I’m not sure what to do when our baby gets old enough to drink out of cups since we are not huge fans of plastic dishware. Perhaps he can be trained early on how to drink water out of a beautiful porcelain mug? Well… one can dream, right? I might just have to follow my mother’s lead when it comes to storing things up high for a bit. It will be a while before we get to that point, though. Who knows, he may totally hate dishes all together.

As we slowly pack things up at the shop and gear up for closing, I have to say that I am really going to miss my local, loyal customers. I hope we’ll still see each other by having the delivery service available and at future events, but what I will really miss is the random drop-ins and the interesting conversations that I get to have with everyone. I’ve had such wonderful luck with my customers and I am so grateful to have met some amazing, kind-hearted, wonderful people through the store. Thank you for your support and I hope to see you soon. These substantial mugs are slightly smaller than their 16oz sibling, with a slightly less curvaceous profile. They hold approximately 12oz and are dishwasher and microwave safe.

Made of 100% cotton, there is no better dish dryer than flour-sack tea towels. They are very absorbent and dry quickly. Each towel is screen printed individually by hand using non-toxic ink. The towels measure 28″ x 29″ and have two hemmed edges and two selveged edges. Washer/dryer safe.

This distinctive line of ceramic work is finely crafted in the traditional methods of hand building, yet these pieces are anything but traditional.

All work is entirely food, oven and dishwasher safe. When placing in oven, please ensure oven is not preheated, and bake, do not broil or microwave, as severe temperature shock may damage your piece.
