I’ve just received a new shipment from Dovetail Shop & Studio! Each piece is designed and handmade by Josh and Margaret Smith of Lexington, Kentucky. These high quality (and darling) goods are wonderful gifts and perfect for every day use. I really love the neighborhood series. It has a great Amsterdam feel to it (as well as the bike series). The Octopus series is the most popular here in the shop. Perhaps Portlanders can relate well to the sea creature motif because of all the rain we get in the winter months? Darling Dovetail pieces always makes my rainy (and sunny days) happy here. Enjoy!

My friend, Kierstin, just adopted this adorable pup last weekend. She brought him by the shop yesterday and I instantly fell in love with him. He greeted me with a couple snorts and then plopped himself down on the cool concrete floor. Within two minutes he was snoring away.

I’ve been spending the last year debating with myself about painting my door. I was a little burned out after remodeling the shop before I opened and I didn’t want to touch a paint brush again. Now, one year later, I’ve finally picked up the brush and given my wobbly ugly door a new look. I’ve painted it the same shade as the back wall in the shop. Very pleased with the results and very pleased that I can again put that paint brush away.

If I could have a kitchen full of wonderful and colorful pieces made by Circa Ceramics, I’d probably be the happiest Portlander living in this grey city! The color, the images, the richness, and the quality always makes my day.
