That’s right! It’s time to take a wee break after a wonderful (but crazy) holiday season. The shop will be closed January 10th – 20th. We will be spending a few days exploring the world of Savannah, GA in hopes of being inspired by beautiful designs, great food, and new art. Also, I’m excited to see the sun again (something Portland is lacking right now). In the meantime, enjoy these darling dish towels we carry at the shop by Portland’s Makelike and Savannah’s Lovelane.

Inspired by her travels around the world, Katy Kidd introduces us to a new way of looking at objects that we tend to throw away or discard. The unique and colorful everyday items painted on layers of acetate give the pieces a subtle depth of field, and remind us that even the most mundane things can be beautiful.
These pieces and more will be showing through the month of November at elsa+sam.

My work is a social/environmental commentary on objects from our beauty obsessed, petroleum based, wasteful society. Ubiquitous Objects we label as “tacky”, “garbage”, “cast aways” or “environmentally harmful” are so prominent in developing countries and are considered useful timesavers, long lasting and in the case of the Jerry Can, a life saver.

There is something so satisfying about opening new packages from Circa Ceramics and taking each piece out of the box. It’s not only their cheerful colors but it’s the images that make me feel nostalgic. It’s the same feeling you get when you come across something enjoyable from your past hiding somewhere. You just fall in love with it all over again. Every time I open up a Circa Ceramics package, I have a glee of excitement and am reminded of how awesome and talented they are.

Trivet - $26.00

Large Bowl - $110
